I do most of my reading on my Kindle, but when I’m driving or doing things around the house I love listening to audiobooks. Over the past few months, I’ve finished several books I enjoyed. I thought I’d share a few of them here in case you’re looking for something good to read, or listen to.
Here are a few mystery recommendations, plus one non-mystery I thought was special.
It’s Not Her – Mary Kubica
I just finished this one and it kept me turning the pages. The setting is a seedy remote lakeside resort (sort of reminded me of Misery Cove’s Paradise Beach Motel). I never guessed what was going on and was shocked by the ending.
The Last Caretaker – Jessica Strawser
I liked the eerie atmosphere of a woman living alone at a remote lodge where she was hired as a caretaker. She sensed from the beginning something was off. And she was right.
My Husband’s Wife – Alice Feeney
I couldn’t put this one down because of all the twists. As many times I thought I knew what was happening, I was wrong.
Theo of Golden – Allen Levi
Not my usual genre, but it was recommended to me, so I thought I’d try it. I’m glad I did. It’s a thoughtful and uplifting story about a quiet stranger whose kindness slowly changes a small town. We need this type of book to remind us that kindness does exist, and not only in books.
I’m always looking for my next good read. What was the last book you enjoyed? I’d love to hear about it.
